The 6th TNBC Meeting - KILIMO KWANZA will be held at the Kunduchi Beach Hotel and Resorts starting from 2nd June 2009 to 3rd June 2009. This two days event will focus on agriculture. WHY KILIMO KWANZA? In our opinion agriculture needs to be seen as more than just the means of feeding an ever growing population. Agriculture is about how we sustain land and water resources and provide the infrastructure that sustains millions of Tanzanians who live and work in agricultural dependent communities across the country. Investments in agriculture are essential if we are to achieve meaningful growth and sustain past macro-economic gains. The two day meeting will be attended by about 380 delegates made up of 40 Members of TNBC, 125 Representatives from Agriculture Sector, 63 Representatives of Regional Business Councils, 35 Government Officials, 120 Invitees representing Local Private Companies, selected MDAs and Development Partners. The first day will be the Special TNBC meeting to be guided by the “Kilimo Kwanza” presentation of the TNBC Agriculture Working Group. The presentation will provide comprehensive review of the deep rooted agricultural sector reform shortfalls and propose ten pillars for “Kilimo Kwanza” to be a reality. The ten pillars are actions for quick wins which the Government will be expected to consider and possibly integrate into policy reforms and the forthcoming FY 2009/10 Budget. Private sector is expected to exploit opportunities for implementation. The second day will be continuation of discussions based on the Kilimo Kwanza Pillars and Matrix; and will forge commitments and resolutions in the form of the “Kilimo Kwanza Green Book” that will form basis for serious implementation and follow-up. Through “Kilimo Kwanza” participating agencies, authorities, companies, corporations, institutions and Regions will have an opportunity to show-case their agri-business opportunities to potential investors, business support agencies and financial institutions. “Kilimo Kwanza” follow-up events at regional and district level will start from 2009 nane nane event.
